noise

the crowd noise
was unbearable
i left right away
drove home
i broke the speed limit
just a little
the door closed
just a bit too firmly
for the time of night
the deadlock clocked
dont bother
it said
i was going to stay up
but my bed
was so inviting
after all that crowd noise
i put a fan in the window
the humidifier on
the tv on low
and fell asleep to the sounds
of the cars driving by
the sticky sound
of drizzle on the road
